There’s Never a Bad Day at the Beach

We were very fortunate and blessed to be able to attend Youth Retreat again this year. Our family loves to spend time with the youth and spend a few days at Cocoa Beach. I was 36 weeks pregnant. A few people were nervous that I may go into labor. It didn’t happen that week and I was pregnant 5 more weeks.  We all LOVE the beach except for Jim. We spent a lot of time at the beach playing and enjoying the sun. Thanks SBC for allowing us the opportunity the serve along side you guys.

Caroline is 1 Month

Just like that she turned one month. A one month recap

IMG_4227 July 3: And then she was home. And there were plenty of willing hands to hold her. She settled in nicely to our family, and the kids are doing great. Sadie and Jake want to be next to her constantly.

IMG_4285 IMG_4288 IMG_4320 IMG_4419 IMG_4426  IMG_4278There are a lot of Caroline events that look like this – the whole family gathered around, wanting to participate. It is an all out affair just to change her diaper!

IMG_4429

She had her first bath. It was a family event as well, with lots of helpful hands.

It is hard to think that she won’t be my sweet little newborn baby anymore. So I’m savoring the moments, enjoying this time with our sweet family.

Meet Caroline Joy Perdue

We finally have a baby! She was 1 week over due and I was set to be induced in mere hours when she made her grand debut. I am so thankful for many things concerning this pregnancy, labor and delivery, however, I most thankful for a healthy baby girl.

Caroline was born at 2:47 a.m. on July 2. She was weighed 7lbs and 12 oz and 20 1/2 inches long. We finally have a baby that has dimples.

Here are a few pictures from today:

This was our last picture taken as a family of six. IMG_3927

I plan to update more later, but we are tired and need some sleep.

Why I Love Boys!

Boys are so fascinating to me. There are so many reasons I love having boys. They’re dirty. They usually smell like little dogs. They’re sweaty. They’re silly. They’re dirty. They love their mama. They bring their mama worms. Their mama screams when they bring her worms.

The main reason I love having boys is the opportunity of growing a boy into a man. Husband. Father. This is serious. This is a huge responsibility. This is a privilege.  This is war.

I.Love.My.Boys.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

It seems that i get fewer pictures of them playing ball every season. I think the culprit it Sadie running around during the games. Also, the boys would rather me video each at bast so they can see how well they are hitting. DSC_0216 DSC_0221

This summer they both attend a local baseball camp. It was Monday-Friday from 9-3 each day. They learned a few things about baseball and a few more things about life. It was a learning experience for their Mommy too. Much to our surprise and delight, they both were given first place ribbons. Judd’s was in base running. Jake did well in hitting.

32 weeks

So, here we are at the 32 week mark. Eight weeks left or a little less than two months if you just look at the calendar. I prefer to say “a little less than two months.”

But in that two months we’ve got a plate full. The Kenney’s are moving to town, Beth Moore Conference, Beach Retreat and Summer SonSeekers…

This has been a more difficult pregnancy. I’m sure it’s because I’m older. And more whinier, I think. I am, and will remain, very grateful to be pregnant and add this sweet addition to our family and blah blah blah….but my goodness, it’s hard! I’m achy, sleep ok as long as I haven’t eaten too much, get words mixed up, crave chocolate (what?), leg cramps, and abdominal – like stretching – pain. WEIGHT, on my, I feel like I have gained entirely too much weight. I will be scared to see the final numbers.

I feel like it has gone by pretty fast, and some days when I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror, I panic. What are we doing? How are we going to add a fifth child?? What will this look like for our family? But I know that this is His plan for our family. We are GRATEFUL!

On Friday, Jim and I went for a 3D/4D ultrasound. We wanted to get a video of this little baby. It was precious to see it move around.

Dear Anna Kate

Dear Anna Kate,

Five is such a big birthday to me. It’s hard to believe that you will be starting kindergarten in the fall. It’s all going by too fast.

Sunshine, you are such a happy person and so full of life it’s hard not to get sucked into your enthusiasm. You love to color, and all things 5 year old little girls should love; like playing dress up, friends from church, playing with your brothers, princesses and pink (or whichever color you have deemed “your favorite color” for the week) but you also seem so grown up to me at 5.

I envy your happiness and joy for life. I love spending time just the two of us, running errands or sneaking away for a special time. Anna Kate, knowing how much fun we have together now, makes me SO excited for our times together in the future {God willing you will still think I’m cool enough to hang out with}. You truly are maturing into a beautiful little lady, inside and out. you are quite dramatic in your explanation of things, or telling stories, or in something that one of your siblings did to you! You are helpful, but you aren’t really neat. However, you are learning to clean your bedroom. But it doesn’t really come naturally

Honestly, I could sit here and brag on you all day, but to make a long story short…I’m excited about how far you have come and I’m even more excited about where you are are going.

I hope your day was as special as you.  Just remember, you are my sunshine.

love, your mama

This pregnancy is moving along rather quickly and somewhat uneventful since beginning the second trimester. It is such a blessing to feel this little one kick and squirm. We are looking forward to meeting this precious little one.
